Versatile handmade Derby shoes

The open quarters distinguish the Derby from the more formal Oxford and allow the upper to adjust more naturally across the instep. This makes the style a useful choice for men who want classic leather shoes with a slightly less rigid appearance.

Each pair is cut, shaped, stitched and finished by skilled craftspeople. Selected constructions include Goodyear-welted options, completed alongside last shaping, sole forming and hand-applied colour in our workshop.

Structure without unnecessary stiffness

Colin Martin refines reinforcement in selected areas to improve softness and flexibility around the toe and heel while preserving a balanced silhouette. Supple, breathable leather is chosen for the lining and footbed to support comfort during extended wear.

How to wear Derby shoes

Black and dark brown Derbies pair naturally with tailored trousers and office clothing. Medium brown, burgundy, suede and brogued designs work particularly well with chinos, denim and textured tailoring. A patina finish adds depth and individuality without compromising versatility.
